Route Challenge ratings

Suitable for anyone who enjoys a reasonably active life. The pace is gentle and the terrain flat to undulating. Distances no more than 30 miles (50km).


Suitable for those with slightly more cycling experience. the terrain can be a little hillier than grade 1.5 and distances up to 45 miles (70km).


For the regular and reasonably fit cyclist. The terrain may include some challenging hills and distances up to 75 miles (110km).


These routes require a good level of fitness and stamina and feature challenging inclines and/or a longer time in the saddle. Distances can be up to 100 miles (160km).

RIDERS COMING FROM NORTH OF OXFORD PLEASE NOTE: THE A34 MILTON MILTON INTERCHANGE WILL BE CLOSED OVERNIGHT ON SATURDAY BUT WILL REOPEN AT 06:00 SUNDAY MORNING, SO THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEMS REACHING THE START VIA THE A4130.
IF THE JUNCTION DOES NOT REOPEN ON TIME, PLEASE CONTINUE SOUTHWARDS ON THE A34 AND TAKE THE WEST ILSLEY TURN-OFF, CROSS THE A34 AND REJOIN IT, NORTHBOUND. EXIT AT THE CHILTON INTERCHANGE AND FOLLOW OUR SIGNS.


A lovely Spring ride - go at your own pace over 30, 60 or 75 miles through pretty villages and lush countryside along the hills and valleys by the River Thames. The routes wind from south Oxfordshire up to Abingdon and into the Vale of the White Horse through a landscape of beautiful half-timbered cottages, green riverbanks and open downland, it’s a great start to the cycling season. Food, beer tent and live music welcomes you at the finish!

Getting There: CarFrom M4 Jc 13 follow A34 north then take A4185 (Newbury Rd.) toward Rowstock and look for our signs.
Harwell is approximately 16 miles south of Oxford.
There will be 2 main and a number of overflow car parks. They will all be signposted on the day with traffic marshals in place to guide drivers.
Please be aware that due to security consideration there will also be traffic restrictions in force on a number of roads within the Harwell Campus complex.

Other InfoMinimum age 12 on 30 mile route, 14 on the 60 mile and 16 on the 75 mile route. Riders under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult over 18. Road bike / hybrid / mountain bike suitable on both routes.

It is recommended that all riders wear a helmet. A selection of helmets will be available for purchase on the day.

With 136 women and 1 man diagnosed with breast cancer every day in the UK, your contribution towards Against Breast Cancer’s research is more important than ever. Our research looks at diet and lifestyle, biochemistry and immunology, with the aim of finding vital information to increase survival after diagnosis and ultimately to discover a vaccine against breast cancer.
