BIKE EVENTS RIDES 2021 – SAFETY MEASURES IN PLACE RE COVID-19

Event sites (to include start/finish venues, car parks, refreshment stops) will have signs with clear safety instructions

Guided one way system in force to separate arriving & departing riders. Cones/barriers/hazard warning tape/marshals/signs will be in place to separate riders heading for the start from the riders wanting to pre-register to take part in the event

2 metre paces marked out on the ground for participants and supporters at any area on site where queues form: start area/gantry, administration tent, mechanic, caterer/s, first aid, portable loos, etc.

Common surfaces to be wiped down regularly on site

Disposable gloves and masks will be provided to all crew who come into contact with the public, crew will have personal use of phones, radios, pens and paperwork

Pens used by cyclists signing up will be used once only on a per-individual basis, and stored for at least 72 hours before re-use

Hand sanitiser stations will be available throughout event sites

Screens to be used at the administration tent for people signing up

Cyclists to be set off between start times in groups of six, every 2-3 minutes (subject to government advice in effect at the time)

Payment for on the day entries should be made by debit or credit card if possible

Water will be available for cyclists at the start + finish and along the route for riders to refill water bottles

Individually pre-packed medals can be collected by riders at the Finish

Portable toilets (where used) will be regularly sanitised throughout the event. Individuals making use of these should wear a mask / face-covering while doing so and use the hand sanitiser provided in each cubicle

Crew working in close proximity where necessary will wear masks and gloves - sharing vehicles, signing the routes, erecting equipment and site logistics Increased rubbish collection and clearance, with additional waste areas

Close liaison with service providers for eg first aid, mechanics, Search and Rescue marshals and caterers, as well as partner charities

Spectators will be advised to keep to one person per rider/team to minimise congestion on the site

Individual rider information (name and phone number) will be available to NHS Test & Trace, as requested.
